Dr. Hamza-Lup presented a review of the projects developed involving multimodal environments at the 4th International Conference on Web Information Systems and Technologies (WEBIST) held in Funchal, Madeira, Portugal. The paper entitled "Haptics and Extensible 3D in Web-Based Environments for e-Learning and Simulation" explores the potential of web-based multimodal systems for 3D simulations and haptic feedback.

"Online External Beam Radiation Planning and Training" is accepted for publication and presentation at the Computer Assisted Radiology and Surgery (CARS), 22nd International Congress and Exhibition, held in June, in Barcelona.

Users from 20 countries access the simulator remotely. Currently over ninety users are registered.

Assessment results prove high simulator accuracy (of less then 1 centimeter error). Students at the Radiologic Sciences department at Armstrong Atlantic State University use the tool from home to simulate pre-planned setups. Staff at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center Orlando are studying the clinical fesabillity of the simulator.

3DRTT website has moved to the XHTML format (the validation sign at the bottom of the page indicates that) to be as much compatible with different browsers as possible. Please feel free to submit comments and suggestions regarding the website's new look and feel.

3DRTT Discussion Board launched (see the top menu). Please create an account and participate in discussions regarding any radiation therapy topic. Feel free to ask questions regarding the 3DRTT simulator, and we would be glad to answer them. We currently have over 50 registered professional users that may also post helpful responses.

High-resolution laser scans of the gantry, collimator, and table have been processed and the optimized 3D models added to the simulator. Preliminary assessment conducted at MD Anderson Cancer Center, Orlando, is in progress.
